Sadly this attractive building has been demolished.
Rather tucked away with a restaurant built in front of it, which means sadly that this old building is not open for public events
Part of the Terrace (now demolished and replaced by Osborne Court).
This was a girls school, Solent House school, run by the Misses Cecil & Margaret Caws.
When their earlier building on the Parade was demolished the school moved to this large house in Baring Rd.
Now a private residence this was a boys school with Joseph Hartley Bateman BA the principle. It was open during the early 1900s.
Now a private residence it was once Melton House home of Greenbank school, a girls and junior boys school whose principle in 1933 was Miss Elsie Brown. who continued to run it until it closed
A 1924 advert in the IW County Press offers education for boys up to 14 and girls up to 12 (separate departments). This large building opposite the former site of Mill Hill Station has now been developed into flats.
This original building has been added to, continuing its role as a village school.
At thr junction of Hilton Rd & Cockleton Lane. This friendly school has been demolished with housing replacing it.
Now the local Food Bank is primary school gave many local children a great start to school life.
The first Head when Love Lane was built, Mrs Apps was a popular and much loved teacher.
Built as a middle school it is now Gurnard Primary.
Many former students will remember these teachers.
