Strategic importance as an industrial and garrison town made Cowes and also East Cowes targets for two determined Nazi bombing raids on one night in May 1942.
It was probably due to the valiant efforts of Polish destroyer, ORP Blyskawica, that both towns were saved from utter destruction.
Residents recall their own experience of wartime Cowes and there are many photos to enhance their graphic accounts. Commentary is provided by the late Kenneth Kendall, a former BBC newsreader and D-Day veteran, as well as a resident of Cowes.
The film was made by Cowes Heritage, in conjunction with Solent Television and was first shown at a Cowes at War exhibition.
